The Ottawa-Gatineau chapter (informally known as DOG) formed in the spring of 2005 to improve the climate for independent documentary production through networking and professional development.

As well as it formed to draw attention to the needs of local filmmakers outside the major centres of production, and develop relationships with like-minded media organizations in the region.

Our chapter’s membership consists of a wide variety of veteran filmmakers, emerging producers, and directors who all share a commitment to promoting and enhancing the local documentary industry and community.

The chapter’s executive meets on a regular basis or as the need arises to discuss and prepare for upcoming events, and to plan for the longer term. Executive meetings are not limited to the board. Anyone with ideas, or working on an event is encouraged to attend.
