Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) launches online virtual community hub for documentary filmmakers: DOC HUB

Montreal, Wednesday, May 10 2021 – The Documentary Organization of Canada /l’Association des documentaristes du Canada (DOC) is pleased to release its virtual community space: DOC HUB.

The first of its kind, DOC HUB was created with input from DOC’s community of professional documentary makers and will address both long-standing challenges facing documentary artists and new ones created by the COVID crisis, facilitating access to expertise, community, resources, and professional development.

The DOC HUB is based on feedback from the National Board and dozens of remote documentary professionals across Canada.

“Now more than ever, documentary filmmakers need central spaces to connect. Our members are used to coming together to debate, share resources, and be inspired. The DOC HUB finally makes us all visible to each other, and facilitates shared experiences, mutual support and growth for this dynamic community of filmmakers,” says Sarah Spring, DOC Executive Director.

Denman Digital Inc., an award-winning interactive media team, designed and built the site with an eye on delivering a seamless platform that encourages interactions and member engagement.

DOC members will now be able to search a members-only directory of more than 1000 colleagues Canada-wide to help facilitate mentorship opportunities, job searches, film collaboration, and more. For the broader documentary community, a publicly accessible job board will now live on the DOC website, along with a robust event page sharing all professional development opportunities offered by the six provincial and territorial chapters.
