DOC APPLAUDS HERITAGE MINISTER’S PLAN FOR CBC/RADIO-CANADA
Toronto – Friday, February 21st 2025 – The Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) applauds the Minister of Canadian Heritage for her plan to transform CBC/Radio Canada. The proposed mandate, funding, and governance changes are a significant and necessary shift to ensure the longevity of this essential service.
Ensuring that CBC/Radio Canada has the resources and structure to effectively serve Canadians is a clear pathway to ensuring Canada’s cultural sovereignty.
Adds DOC’s Executive Director Sarah Spring: “Canadians deserve a modernized CBC/Radio-Canada and the mechanisms proposed by the Minister will help to ensure that Canadians will continue to be able to produce, share, watch and listen to our own stories.”
