CMF

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is a key funder of Canadian documentaries. DOC closely monitors the CMF’s policies, speaking up whenever a change threatens to harm independent documentary production, such as a reduction in funding or an increase in the amount of in-house and affiliate production broadcasters are entitled to do. At the time of the CMF’s creation in 2009, DOC mobilized documentary makers across the country and was instrumental in securing the POV Fund for the English language market.

2015 CMF Consultation Process
August 18th, 2015

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is embarking on a series of industry focus groups in 18 cities across the country this fall, beginning in Toronto on September 9, 2015. Feedback received from stakeholders will contribute to shaping CMF policy and programs for 2016-2017 and beyond. As with the last round of CMF consultations, the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) will be mounting a strategic response as the meetings roll out nationally. DOC members are encouraged to register for the group in their area and DOC will provide further information and talking points in the next few weeks.  DOC is also participating in the industry working groups and will provide the membership with information as those sessions unfold. It is crucial that DOC members make their voices heard in light of the recent CRTC Let's Talk TV decisions. For more information, click here.
