DOC Kitchen Table Talks: Panel Discussion + Community Forum
DOC is pleased to announce the panelists for this year’s Kitchen Table Talks, focused on a critical moment for Canada’s screen sector.
As the federal government launches an advisory panel to examine the potential consolidation of Telefilm Canada, Canada Media Fund, and National Film Board of Canada, major questions are emerging about how Canada supports its storytellers—and what must be preserved moving forward.
Topics will include:
- the future role of public institutions like the NFB
- narrative sovereignty and ownership of IP
- how documentary fits within a more centralized funding system
- risks and opportunities for independent creators
- This conversation comes at a pivotal time, as the newly announced federal advisory panel begins its work. DOC is committed to ensuring that the voices of documentary creators are part of that process.
Following the panel, we invite all members to take part in an open, 90-minute Kitchen Table forum to share concerns, perspectives, and priorities that will help inform DOC’s ongoing advocacy.
