DOC filed its intervention with the CRTC last Friday regarding the renewal of CBC / SRC licenses. DOC maintains that by virtue of its mandate, CBC / SRC should be the champion of Canadian documentaries and that audiences are entitled to expect more from their public broadcaster.

DOC is reacting cautiously to the CRTC’s proposed approach to license renewals based on ownership groups. It is important to note that the decision released yesterday relates only to private broadcasters in the English-language market and that the Commission will shortly be examining the issue of broadcasters in the French-language market. For more info.
