DOC Business Concierge is now available Canada-wide in both English and French!

Earlier this year we launched DOC Business Concierge with the support of Ontario Creates.

This pilot program is now a National bilingual service with the support of the Canada Media Fund!

Business Concierge was created with the goal to support and empower DOC’s BIPOC producers by providing bespoke guidance and tools as they develop, produce, and distribute their content. This is a completely free service, exclusive to DOC members.

As a part of the launch we are providing a free webinar to explain the program on June 1st at 4pm ET.

The panel features Business Concierge consultants Lisa Valencia-Svensson and Leena Minifie and filmmaker and Business Concierge participant Loveleen Kaur, moderated by Kadon Douglas from BIPOC TV & Film

DOC is extremely grateful to the Canada Media Fund for their support.

Offered in partnership with Film Training Manitoba and DOC Manitoba.

Documentary filmmaker Daniel Cross shows Manitoba-based content creators the essentials of making a documentary film. Using a combination of lecture, case-studies and in-class coaching, David will teach the key requirements of developing a successful documentary project. Participants will learn about creative and finance requirements of documentary filmmaking.

Over two days participants will learn:

  • How to write treatments, synopses, director statements, loglines, and backgrounders.

All DOC members are invited to join us for a virtual meetup on Thursday September 16 at 6pm EST! Chat with the DOC community and celebrate our members with films at TIFF. Come show your support to Breakthrough alums Shasha Nakhai and Kenya-Jade Pinto, who are premiering their narrative feature, Scarborough!

Adapted from the critically acclaimed novel by Catherine Hernandez, Scarborough is an unflinching portrait of three low-income families struggling to endure within a system that’s set them up for failure. It shows the love and perseverance communities can foster, lifting up families to overcome the obstacles placed in their way.

In response to DOC member questions about how to constructively discuss systemic racism in our industry and daily lives, DOC has asked Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Oppression Educator Rania El Mugammar to create a free session available to all DOC members!

The goal of this keynote session on May 20th is to allow members to examine decolonizing, intersectionality, privilege, and oppression in Canadian cultural, political, and historical contexts.

Registration details for this member-only event can be found in the May 5th DOC National newsletter.

DOC would like to thank the following veteran producers for their allyship in supporting this event: 90th Parallel Productions, Bunbury Films, Catbird Productions, Eyesteel Films, Lantern Films, Mercury Films, Intuitive Pictures, Parabola Films, Periphéria, Primitive Entertainment, Screen Siren Pictures, Vonnie Von Helmolt Productions.

Merci !
